A Revista TEMA - Tendências em Matemática Aplicada e Computacional surgiu em 1999, por iniciativa da Sociedade Brasileira de Matemática Aplicada e Computacional (SBMAC). O periódico tem recebido submissões de autores brasileiros, bem como de estrangeiros, em língua inglesa. Esse fato indica o grande reconhecimento da TEMA como um importante veículo de comunicação na área de Matemática Aplicada, apontando uma grande sintonia com a comunidade acadêmica nacional e internacional.
No ano de 2010 foi implementado o processo de submissão eletrônica baseado no sistema SEER/OJS (http://seer.ibict.br/index.php). Os novos artigos passaram a ser submetidos eletronicamente no endereço http://www.sbmac.org.br/tema/seer, agilizando o processo de avaliação dos artigos. No início de 2011, a SBMAC concluiu o credenciamento de suas publicações junto ao CrossRef (http://www.crossref.org). Todos os artigos publicados pela TEMA desde 2000 (volume 1) foram indexados e identificados através de um código DOI. Em 2012, a revista TEMA recebeu parecer favorável para admissão na base de dados SciELO Brasil, consolidando o reconhecimento do periódico junto à comunidade acadêmico-científica.
A partir do presente número, os artigos passaram a ser incluídos na publicação de acordo com a ordem de aprovação pelos editores. Dessa forma, a revista poderá publicar os artigos em sistema AOP (Ahead of Print) (http://trac.scielo.org/trac/Web/wiki/SciELO_Ahead), beneficiando os autores e leitores da revista.
Em nome do Comitê Editorial da revista TEMA, renovo o convite aos pesquisadores que usam a Matemática em seus trabalhos, a seguirem contribuindo com a submissão de artigos para o sucesso deste veículo como um espelho do que é feito em Matemática Aplicada no Brasil.
