Author Guidelines

a) About author responsability over the manuscript contents

The authors take full responsability for the contents in research papers (manuscripts) submitted to TEMA journal. Although all information published in this journal are considered true and accurate, the editors and the publisher cannot be held legally responsible for any possible mistakes or omissions. The publisher offer no warranty of any kind, explicit or implicit, of the published contents.  

 

b) About references and bibliography

Bibliography references should be performed with bibtex package, following the instructions provided in the template.

 

c) Information about keywords or descriptors 

In the first page of the manuscript, the author should write, according to TEMA journal standards, a title, names, complete corresponding addresses (including e-mail, fax, etc.), an abstract written in Portuguese (resumo) with keywords (palavras-chave), an abstract written in English with keywords, Manuscripts should be prepared following the instructions in "Manual_para autores_TEMA".

 

d) About peer review 

Analysis and approval of manuscripts submitted to TEMA - Trends in Applied and Computational Mathematics - starts with the on-line submission of the manuscript. Afterwards, the Editor-in-Chief assign the manuscript to suitable Associate Editor, which is responsible in choosing suitable ad-hoc reviewers in corresponding research areas. Reviwers receive the full manuscript, but have no access to the identity of the authors through the system, which ensures a blind review process. A deadline is set to 45 days after the agrreement of the reviewer. Each manuscript is evaluated by two ad-hoc reviewers at least, and in case of different recomendations, a third reviewer is chosed. Exceptional decisions are judge by the editorial board.

 

e) About author rights transfer

Presenting a manuscript implies that: the described work has not been published yet (except as an abstract or thesis); that the work is not being considered for publication in another journal; that the manuscript has been approved by all authors, as well as by the authorities in the institution where the work was performed; that if or when the paper is accepted for publication, the authors agree with automatic transfer of copyright to Sociedade Brasileira de Matemática Aplicada e Computacional; that the manuscript will not be published elsewhere, in any other language, without the agreement of the copyright owners. 

Once accepted, the published material will be protected under the name of the Sociedade Brasileira de Matemática Aplicada e Computacional. The copyright includes exclusive rights to reproduce ans distribute the article, as well as translation rights. No published material in this journal should be reproduced in other format or media without the written permission of the journal Editorial Board.

 

f) Information about publication languages

TEMA Journal published original research articles in Portuguese and English languages. Currently, TEMA is moving towards internacionalization of its contents. In this way, authors are encouraged to, even if presenting articles in Portuguese language, provide title, abstract and keywords in English language, following the journal regulations. This practice has become mandatory, since it allows the possibility of articles being searched by both brazilian and foreigner researchers worldwide. 

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Maximum number of pages allowed: 20. Figures and illustrations should not be in colour. Best prepare them in ".eps" or ".pdf" formats.
  2. Manuscripts should be prepared in LaTeX2e, according to /TEMA.cls/ and /Modelo-TEMA/, available in: TEMA.zip. All works should have: font size 10pt, printing area 19cm x 12,7cm.
  3. Manuscript should be submitted in ".pdf" format, without author identification, ensuring a blind review.

    The source files should be in ".tex" format and should be supplied, along with figure files, as supplementary documents.

  4. In case of submission to peer review section (regular article), the instruction is Ensuring blind peer review have been followed.
  5. When submitting your article to TEMA, the authors should provide a list with three possible reviewers, in the same research area as the work being considered for publication.
