Many mathematical problems involve some kind of subjectivity. This paper studies the problem of variational calculus with fuzzy initial condition and free final condition. The solution is obtained by applying the Zadeh’s extension to the classical solution, with respect to initial condition. Using a partial order relation for fuzzy numbers, a theorem that ensures the optimality of this solution is proved.
